Luther and Lucy Potts officially opened the Lewisburg Garden Center in March of 1992 with one greenhouse and a office.

Luther found out his job at Occidental Chemical Company was coming to an end after almost 34 years. He wasn’t  ready to retire quite yet. Luther didn’t know what he wanted to do.  His son Bryan, always wanted to farm.  He grew up growing tobacco, cutting hay and raising registered Angus cows with his dad. The two put there heads together and realized that lawn care, landscaping and gardening was the way to go. They both loved the outdoors and people.  They loved working together as father and son.

Through referrals of customers, word of mouth and a lot of hard work the garden center grew into 6 greenhouses.   Bryan and his wife Amy married in 1994.  They have worked together 365 days a year since 1995.  His parents retired the last of December 2008.  Bryan and his wife, Amy took over the business and by 2010 the place had grew to 8 greenhouses and outdoor power equipment sales and service shop. A landscaping , irrigation and mowing crew had been offered to the commercial and home owner industry from 1989-2016. We no longer offer these services, but will help you plan and layout your landscaping needs.

We are a retail garden center and outdoor power shop.  We are open year around but hours do change with the seasons.  We grow a wide variety of  container annuals and perennials. We also grow several kinds of bedding plants, hanging baskets, herbs and vegetables.  We stock shrubs, vines, shade trees and fruit trees. If you need a mower, trimmer, hedge trimmers, blower or chainsaw, we have it. Need a place to store it, we have storage buildings to rent to own or buy straight out.  We try our best to walk around and help our customers with questions and planning their gardens or for storage.  For many  of our customers it is an adventure in searching, finding and choosing what to grow and how big a storage building they need.  And don’t forget to bring your propane tank to refill, you may need it for grilling supper.  We have a whole lot to offer, so come and spend sometime with us and check out what we have.

Sadly, our father, founder and mentor Luther Potts died March 15, 2017 of pneumonia. He had been retired from day to day activities from the store for years, but most didn’t know it because he still hauled, picked up mowers, and delivered poinsettias with wife Lucy by his side.  No one but family, really new Miss Lucy had Dementia. This was a great love of 63 years blessed by our Heavenly Father.  This love will be blessed again one day when she goes home to meet her Lord and Savior.

Today, Lewisburg Garden Center & Outdoor Power Inc. is still family owned and blessed by the Lord. We hope you will visit us soon.  At this time our website allows you to get directions, hours of operation, helpful information, things we offer and meet Annie Violet our greeter. Please visit our website as the seasons change and major holidays approach for news about Lewisburg Garden Center & Outdoor Power.
